Sports Day at Great Bardfield

Categories: All Classes News,News,Sporting Events

What a wonderful sun-shiny day we all had! We began the morning in our Houses with each house taking part in a variety of games. These included testing a variety of the children’s skills including ball control, agility, balance, catching and throwing and speed. It was fantastic to see all of the members of each house working together to achieve a common goal.

At lunchtime parents joined us for a family picnic on the school field. Everyone enjoyed lots of yummy food and it was great to see all of the children tucking in together especially children whose parents have work commitments and couldn’t make it along. These children thoroughly enjoyed being with their friends and it was a great example of how our whole school community works together to support each other.

The afternoon was a bit more competitive-and very hot! The Year 5 and 6s thundered determinedly down the track. Getting in their way was not a good idea as they had their eyes on the prize. Our little unicorns also did extremely well. Mrs Takakuda and her team had them well practised so they took to the track like true professionals. It was a relief to see that everyone made it to the end…eventually!

The awards ceremony was a very proud moment. All the children’s efforts were complimented and acknowledged both in the House Competition in the morning and the individual races in the afternoon.
