All About Ravilious Class

Welcome to Ravilious Class! We have a lovely classroom in the beautiful Victorian part of the school, where we enjoy learning, exploring ideas, and reading from our large collection of books. As the eldest pupils of the school, we work hard to consolidate our KS2 learning and become as independent as possible. We also take on extra responsibilities around the school, helping out in the dinner hall, organising the music for assemblies and leading our councils.

Our class is named after Eric Ravilious, one of the famous Great Bardfield artists. He lived in Brick House during the 1930s and created stunning watercolours. He also served as an official War Artist during World War II, and his work can be seen at the Fry Art Gallery in Saffron Walden and the Imperial War Museum. Ravilious was married to Tirzah Garwood and, with her support, went on his final mission to Iceland, where he was sadly lost at sea. His imagination, creativity, and courage continue to inspire us every day!
